Q&A: Windows 7 vs Windows XP Home On NetbooksQ&A: Windows 7 vs Windows XP Home On NetbooksOn Sunday, May 16th, 2010 at 3:29 pm, 25 Comments »
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! In this video, I answer a question from phillymaniac14 who wants to know my thoughts on Windows XP performance versus Windows 7 performance on my netbooks. I own an HP Mini 1000 while my wife owns a HP Mini Vivienne Tam edition. Both of these are equipped with 2GB of RAM, but my wife still has Windows XP Home and I have Windows 7 Beta. My tests are hardly scientific but I’ve found that the extra memory definitely helps Windows 7 performance with full screen flash videos. As it stands, Windows 7 and Windows XP full screen flash video performance seem to be identical. With lessar RAM, Windows XP performed better. There are many factors to consider when comparing OS’s especially with a beta OS such as Windows 7. There’s also Flash software, browser versions and compatibility issues that may need to be adjusted on Windows 7. A very early test, but it was interesting to note. I hope this answers your question phillymaniac14. could someone please answer my question?
Win xp home and win7 starter which one is faster on opening folder, startup and go in the programs ??????
installing windows 7 on a netbook is like installing OS on a calculator….
windows 7 is a resource hog – no matter how i “cut” it an “clean” it up.. its still the same – stop the themes and other services from starting up… etc.
yet, i cant achieve the performance of XP and i still think XP is the best windows OS ever – they shouldnt stop it from support, but instead keep on improving it – performance, security, skins, themes, sounds, hardware compatiblity… etc.
thats my point of view
xp better than 7
when u got all da shit from 7 on xp then xp better

thanks for the vid. i know a lot of people are looking into this, if not with netbooks then with regular PCs.
@hanrinch ROFLMAO…!! OMFG! xD!!!
on windows 7 starter, you can’t even change the background. i would go for windows xp home.
Would be a lot more useful with a benchmark test…

i got an eee pc 1005HAB with XP Home on it. I multibooted with Win7 Ultimate RTM and the performance on 7 is horrible. I know the RAM is causing the problems(1GB) but until i decide to upgrade the ram, Ubuntu or Windows XP is youre best netbook OS.
